ANALYSING THREE FRONT COVERS OF A MAGAZINE The cover doesn’t have any writing, titles or information on it apart from his name and year of his birth and death which again, brings the focus on him. Robin Williams is positioned at the centre of the magazine, the camera and the whole front cover is focused on him. His head is in front of the masthead which makes him stand out even more. The date is placed in the right top corner in black on top of red with small font which doesn’t distract from the main thing. The background is white which makes the red masthead and border more vivid and the black clothes more noticeable. Robin is wearing all black as you would at a funeral which brings more attention to the fact that he has died. Yet still Robin still looks happy and is smiling in the photo, which could associate with his acting life mostly as a comedian. Question 1: In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products My magazine conforms to the alternative rock/indie pop/electronic genre, my target audience consists of both males and females aged 16-23. The image used for the front cover is a mid shot. I have placed the image on right hand side so that the cover-lines are visible. This conforms to the conventions of 'LOVE' magazine portraying Adele, but on the other side. The colour scheme focuses on the use of pastel colours such as orange,pink and blue. The use of these colours highlight the innocence portrayed throughout the music genre. This is clearly evident in the Love magazine featuring Cher. This contrasts with the monochromatic tone present in the background of the main image. I conformed to the conventions present in Wire Magazine as I placed the barcode on the bottom right corner.
